Two wrongs do not make a right.
A family suffered harassment when former broadcast journalist Jay Sonza posted a fake address of the Ateneo de Manila Junior High School student involved in the viral video.
Jay disseminated the fake news when he posted the wrong address of Joaquin Montes on his Facebook page on December 21, that has now been deleted. He wrote:
“Cainta Rizal 1900 dito po ba nakatira si kid bonsai?”
Because of his post, the residents of the home address, the Taculod family, constantly received prank deliveries. They paid for the expensive product and food deliveries that they had never ordered as a result.
A member of the family, Joshua Mark Taculod, released an official statement via Facebook on December 22 and 23.
He confirmed that their family’s address did not belong to the Ateneo student and implored the public to stop harassing his family.
Joshua also invited the public to attend their praise and worship gathering on Sunday, December 23, for those involved in the incident.
“Also let us pray for all the people who were victimized by spreading misinformation to others. Let us pray for everyone that God will clear our minds and thoughts. In everything give thanks to God for this is His will,”
Another member of the Tculod family, Jewel, also did the same and asked netizens to stop spreading their address.
“Please stop spreading our residential address we do not know this… may pamilya po kayong naaapektuhan… Please stop buying or ordering online to be delivered in our address!!!”
Jay had constantly criticized Montes ever since he was caught kicking and punching a fellow student. The viral video sparked public outrage and Montes had been kicked out from the school.
