Darren Espanto has finally aired his opinions regarding the controversy involving singer Juan Karlos Labajo who cursed and flashed a finger at a fan who screamed his name.
It can be recalled that Labajo was not pleased when one of the people in the crowd shouted “I love you, Darren” while he was introducing himself and his band before their performance during the Rakrakan 2019 which took place in Circuit Makati.
The words that were shouted by the woman irked Labajo which caused the latter to call her out onstage.
“Ako nga pala si JK, eto nga pala si [glaring word] mo,” he said while looking at and flashing his middle finger to the one who shouted Darren’s name.
“Tigilan mo na ‘yan. Ayaw ko nang marinig ‘yang pangalan na ‘yan. Nakaka-buwisit,” he continued.
After the incident, Espanto was asked about what he thinks about Labajo’s reaction during the press conference of his upcoming concert titled “The Aces”.
Espanto first dodged the question by saying, “Para po sa akin, I’d say I’m not the right person na sumagot po dito right now.”
However, he then went on to say that a performer who got heckled onstage should just move on and continue his performance.
“For me, the show just goes on and it’s just something na, para po sa akin, it’s just funny, kasi nag-effort pa silang pumunta sa show mo para lang gawin yun sa ‘yo. Gusto ko rin siyang pasalamatan for going there,” he said.
He also said that if someone shouted “I love you, JK” while he is performing, he would handle the situation much differently.
Espanto said: “I love you, too.’ Kasi andun siya. Ako yung nagpe-perform sa stage. Sinigawan mo ako ng ‘I love you,’ babalikan kita ng ‘I love you.’”
The feud between Labajo and Darren Espanto started when the latter allegedly called his fellow “The Voice Kids” finalist “gay” on social media.
Espanto also said that he would like to end the conflict with Labajo.
