People take advantage of the fact that life is short by trying their best to live as best they can. True enough, the World Health Organization Confirmed in 2016 the worldwide life expectancy of 72 years old. However, supercentenarians are proof that life doesn’t have to be short as we thought it is.
Supercentenarians are people who are able to live past 110 years of age. Unfortunately, only a handful of people have stories worth telling the next generations to come. Here are some superhumans who were able to live for more than a century:
The Indonesian supercentenarian lived up to the age of 146 years old! Although his exact birthday remains a mystery, local documents revealed that he was born in 1870. Sadly, he recently left the world in 2016 but his amazing feat will remain in the hearts and minds of many people.
Richard Arvin Overton
American war veteran Richard Arvin Overton lived up to 112 years old. He was once the oldest living veteran in the US as well as the country’s oldest living man.
Born on November 28, 1899, this amazing Italian woman seemed to have inherited her long life from her family. According to reports, her mother lived up to 91 years of age while her sibling lived up to a hundred. The secret to her long life? Eggs! Throughout her life, Emma had two raw eggs for breakfast and one cooked egg for lunch.
Violet “Aunt V” Mosse Brown
The Jamaican supercentenarian lived up to 117 years old. She was born March 10, 1990, and became a record holder of the oldest person living for five months until her departure in September 2017.
Misao Okawa is a Japanese named as the oldest living person in 2013. Sadly, the 117-year-old lady left the world in 2015.
Another Japanese supercentenarian made our list. Nabi Tajima lived up to 118 years old until she left the world in 2018. She witnessed several historical events including the Hiroshima event which took place when she was 45 years old.
Jiroemon Kimura is the predecessor to Miso Okawa. He sadly left the world at the age of 116 in 2013.
Jeanne Louise Calment
The French supercentenarian is the highest scoring female “competitor”. She lived 122 years and 164 days.
