After Typhoon Ompong (Mangkhut) smashed our country last September, another storm looms us once again. Today, many of our fellow Filipinos are experiencing Typhoon Rosita’s (Yutu) onslaught. It is currently raiding the northern parts of Luzon. In fact, many netizens have uploaded their alarming situation as the typhoons hit their cities. Many local governments also decided to suspend their classes in order to protect the students.
Our government has also prepared to give aid to our fellow Filipinos, who might need help as the storm. They also advised the public to make their own preparations to make sure of their safety.
According to reports, Rosita earlier made a landfall in Dinapigue, Isabela, last Tuesday at 4 AM. t was also previously expected to head for Ifugao after Isabela, but slightly shifted down to Nueva Vizcaya.
Its strong winds and heavy rains have caused floods to many parts of the country. Farmers have also been forced to harvest their crops before the typhoon sweeps their areas. Some households even tried to secure their homes by tying their roofs to prevent from being blown away by the strong winds.
Today, the typhoon is currently monitored as it moves west-southwest toward Benguet at 25 kilometers per hour (km/h). It has also maintained its strength and currently has maximum winds of 140 km/h and gustiness of up to 230 km/h. It is also the 18th typhoon to enter the country and is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Wednesday.
