Many Filipinos work abroad to find greener pastures to be able to sustain the needs of their family. But there are hardships that they go through in order to thrive. A distressed OFW named Analyn De Guzman Valdez, shared a video of herself in tears after being mistreated by her employer. Analyn narrates that her employer accused her of stealing three bottles of perfume. Her enraged employer then invaded her closet and scattered her personal belongings in the living room.
After being traumatized by what had happened, the OFW pleaded for help from her employment agency. The agency said that they could transfer her to another home. She said she would rather go home because she has been traumatized by the ordeal but she found out that if she wants to go home she has to pay a penalty first for not being able to finish her employment as stated in the contract. But Analyn could not compensate the penalty.
Analyn also said that she had two children named Ian and Ianna who were under her mom’s care. Although, she regrets leaving her home, she had no choice but to work abroad to be able to sustain the needs of her family. Distraught and emotional, the OFW said she had no luck and wanted to end her life instead.
The OFW took photos of her and the aftermath of her employer’s rampage in the living room, in hope, that she could get help from her family and friends in what she had been experiencing.
Netizens were responsive and gave her encouragement and sentiments. After Analyn read their comments, she was able to muster strength to overcome her fear of her employer. Analyn explained that she was emotional and wasn’t able to think straight when she had suicidal thoughts.
