In a recent interview with Tonight with Boy Abunda, Ice Seguerra candidly shared what it’s like to go through hormone replacement therapy.
According to the singer, he initially considered having a gender reassignment surgery. Ice shared:
“I’ll be very honest. Nung una, andun rin ako sa parang, ‘Why? Bakit kailangan? Bakit ganito?’ Pero alam mo, Tito Boy, sometimes especially nung nag-come out na ako as trans, it’s so hard waking up every day seeing that you’re in this body. Alam mo yung pakiramdam na hindi naman eto dapat yun?”
He added that his wife, Liza Diño, accepts him for who he is despite not going under the knife for reassignment. However, Ice said the problem lay with him being able to accept himself.
Because of this, Ice decided to opt for “hormone replacement” therapy instead. This involves developing male secondary characteristics and suppressing female secondary characteristics.
While some fans are concerned that Ice may lose his voice, the singer doesn’t seem to be worried at all:
“Of course, people love what they hear sa akin. It is a big risk. This is my bread and butter. I feed my family sa pagkanta ko, e. Siguro naman yung ganda ng boses, hindi mag-iiba. It’s just that bababa siya nang kaunti and all those things.”
