Rolly Quizon – one of the sons of the late, great Comedy King Dolphy – passed away this afternoon at the Capitol Medical Center.
On Friday, March 9, 2018, ex-actor Rolly Quizon started to feel dizzy while waiting for his girlfriend at the supermarket. He promptly lost consciousness and ended up falling to the floor. Luckily, his girlfriend arrived shortly to rush him to get medical attention.
Apparently, Rolly Quizon suffered a stroke. He spent five days in the hospital in a comatose state before finally passing away this afternoon. According to reports, he was put under for surgery on March 10, but he sadly never woke up from it.
The surgery was done to supposedly drain the blood clot from his brain.
This is surely a shocking and heartbreaking tragedy for Rolly Quizon’s friends and family. This unfortunate loss must be very difficult to accept, on top of Rolly’s half-brother, Dino Quizon, also passing away just last week.
Rolly Quizon is Dolphy’s youngest child with his former live-in partner, former actress Gracita Dominguez.
His acting career may not have been as glamorous and memorable as his fathers’ and siblings’, but Rolly Quizon did have his time in the limelight. He was 14 when he entered show business, via the sit-com “John en Marsha,” where he played the role of Maricel Soriano‘s brother. The show was of course, topbilled by his father, Dolphy.
His brilliance in acting didn’t go unnoticed as he bagged the Best Actor award for his role in “Burlesque Queen,” – a Metro Manila Film Festival entry for the year 1977.
Now, as the Quizon family prepares for Rolly’s wake and funeral, thoughts and prayers are much appreciated for the repose of his soul.
Rest in peace, Rolly Quizon.
