Mark Bautista reveals how coming out of the closet ostracized him from people

After a long time, Mark Bautista finally gathered the courage to come out of the closet. Earlier this month, the Kapuso singer became a trending topic on social media after admitting that he is a bisexual.

The 34-year-old singer’s life was turned into an open book, quite literally, in his autobiography, Beyond the Mark. In this book, Mark Bautista wrote a detailed confession about his sexual orientation. This revelation shocked many fans who thought for a long time that Mark was a straight male.

“I love both sexes and, if given the chance, I would love to have kids and settle down and have a family. I will just go where my heart takes me. If I end up with a woman, then great. But if my heart leads me to a man, then I would embrace that.”

Despite his courageous move to free his true feelings, his freedom came at a cost. What are the repercussions of his revelation? In an interview with a local news outlet, the 34-year-old singer claimed that he has long since prepared himself for the aftermath:

“Na-prepare ko rin ang sarili ko sa mga ganung bagay. Kasi, yun yung isa sa mga fears mo na kapag nilabas mo ito, marami talagang magdi-distance sa ‘yo. Maraming… alam mo yun, hindi pabor sa ‘yo. So, hinanda ko yung sarili ko doon. So I was prepared.”

Even though Mark Bautista faced a multitude of detractors especially online, the ballad singer claimed that he did not regret coming out of the closet.

As a matter of fact, he can sleep soundly at night knowing that he has not done anything wrong. Furthermore, the singer is also busy promoting his latest book to inspire others as well.

“Busy ako promoting my book. Ine-enjoy ko lang yung moment after releasing the book… na parang, you know, ang daming nagko-connect sa akin, nakaka-relate sila sa story.”
